Spanish Conversations
Over the course of the semester, our class was periodically assigned to have conversations with each other. I'm going to try to run this page like a blog, so the most recent videos will be at the top of the page.
Video 2: Boar Hunting
Reflection: For this video, we were assigned to find a background and utilize it in our storytelling. My partner Max King and I at first decided to use an outdoors backdrop and make our video about alpaca hunting. Halfway through production, we realized that hunting alpacas made no sense, so we switched to boar hunting to add more danger. I'm very proud of the dramatic flare I was able to pull off, especially when I look into the camera. One big challenge in writing the script was the google translate only gave us correct translations for certain verbs 80% of the time, and we had to ask for help on the last 20%. In the end though, I think the video turned out great. We ended with a cliffhanger, so I'm excited about the possibility of a sequel in future video.

Video 1: Travel Stories
|
Reflection: The purpose of this video was to let our teachers and ourselves get an idea of where we were at at the start of the semester, so I wasn't super worried about the project. I think I was really good at thinking of things to say on the fly, as we (my partner Ben and I) did while we were thinking of what to say. The most challenging part of Spanish for me right now is that I have a rather small vocabulary. If I here key words that I understand I can usually understand what someone is saying and respond even if I don't understand their grammar, but If I can't find any keywords in my partners' sentences I get lost. I also have a hard time keeping up when someone speaks Spanish quickly. Fortunately my grandfather and mother both speak Spanish, so I can try talking to them to get more comfortable with the language.
