Reflection
The final thing we had to do in this project was to write a reflection on the project. Below are some questions from my reflection.
1. What do you know about monologues after finishing this project?
A monologue is a relatively long (1/2 to 3 minutes) speech given by one character in a play to another character(s) or to the audience. If the monologue is the character speaking to themselves, it is called a soliloquies. Monologues are commonly used to convey large bits of information, such as a battle report or a lecture.
2. What theme from Macbeth did you choose to use in your monologue?
I choose the write my monologue about fate and free will. These are large themes in Macbeth due to the witches apparent ability to see the future, and are also common elements in modern stories such as The Matrix, The Twilight Zone, and A Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy.
4. How Productive were you during the production component of this project?
I think I was very productive during this project. I finished my monologue early on, so I spent a lot of time revising it, Until about halfway through the production, when I realized we had to make a proposal. However, I finished the proposal as well, about a week before thanksgiving break. I knew I wouldn't be able to memorize or convert the monologue to Shakespearean in time, so I got critique and added more Shakespearean vocabulary to my monologue.
5. Do you think you were on task for the vast majority of this project?
I think I was on task for the majority of this project, even if some of that time was searching for Shakespearean vocabulary. Unfortunately, I forgot about the proposal in my effort to work on the monologue, So I never got full critique from another person on the proposal. Even so, I think I was able to make it a good quality as I did a lot of check on it myself.
